“Yesterday still okay.” Today the battery looks different.

Something has changed. The answer isn’t to charge it one more time and see whether it behaves.

IN SHORT

  • Case looks different? Stop using it and stop charging it.
  • Don’t press it shut, open it or “charge and see”.
  • Smoking or on fire: get out, stay out, call 995.

A CHAT WE SEE A LOT

R

Rider

bro the battery case like opening a bit sia

since when ah?

donno leh. yesterday still okay

Then comes the next message.

later i charge and see

eh no, that’s where we stop

Wah this one ah, yesterday’s ride can’t tell us why the case looks different today.

Don’t turn a question into an experiment

Wah, gap, dent or stain in a photo doesn’t give us the whole diagnosis. But suspected battery damage means stop using it and stop charging it.

Swelling or leaking, or unusual heat? Don’t press the case shut or open it to investigate. Stop using and charging it, and ask the maker or authorised service provider.

U don’t need to make it do something worse before taking the warning seriously.

Some signs don’t need a group vote

Steady lah, any of these needs attention:

Unusual heat

Swelling

Leaking

Strange smell

Hissing or cracking

Don’t deliberately touch or sniff the battery to check for them.

995

Smoking or on fire?

Raise the alarm, get out and stay out, then call 995. Don’t stop to film it or carry it through the house.

Kay’s verdict: that part serious, group chat can wait

“then i bring down to u?”

Don’t move it yourself

Don’t ride with it, courier it or arrive carrying a hot, leaking or damaged pack.

Contact the maker first

For a non-emergency, use the manufacturer’s or authorised service provider’s contact details in ur manual or purchase paperwork. Describe what changed and ask what to do before moving or disposing of it.

Don’t bin it

Not the general rubbish, not the blue recycling bin either.

If it’s smoking or burning, don’t wait for the shop to reply. Get out, stay out, call 995.
